US President Trump has signed an executive order pledging to guarantee Qatar’s security, including military action if necessary, following Israel’s airstrikes on Hamas leaders in Qatar. The order states any attack on Qatar would be treated as “a threat to the peace and security of the United States”. It further says the US should “take all lawful and appropriate measures — including diplomatic, economic, and, if necessary, military — to defend the interests of the United States and of the State of Qatar”
